Nicosia Municipality Multifunctional Foundation (NMMF) has been introduced by a decision of the Nicosia Municipal Council on 13th March 2003 and is a registered as a supportive organization according to the requirements of relevant legislation. The Executive Council of the Foundation consists of the Mayor and the Town Clerk of Nicosia Municipality, who are the President and Secretary of the Council respectively, a number of Municipal Councilors, as well as representatives of various voluntary organizations.

The Foundation is a non for profit organization which aims to provide care and protection to citizens that are in need of additional support and assistance, as well as to promote issues of social awareness, equality and social acceptance among the dwellers of the old part of the walled city as well as dwellers in other parts of the city.

The Municipality of Nicosia through the Nicosia Municipality Multifunctional Foundation, has undertaken a number of actions in the area of social service provision that are concrete measures to reconcile work and family life for immigrant parents, relieve parents (especially mothers) form the duties of child-minding while facilitating their labor market entrance. Moreover, it operates a range of comprehensive programmes aiming to ease the inclusion process of immigrants and their families in social and economic life.  These include:

  • The after school Day-care programme for children 5-12 (including children of immigrant parents) titled “Multicultural Day Care Centre - OURANIO TOXO” (The Rainbow) since 2009
  • The In-Home Day-Care programme for toddlers and preschoolers aged from 2 up to 5 years old. Since 2014
  • Intercultural Centre -Develop linguistic and computer skills, internet café (offering learning opportunities for social inclusion and necessary skills for the labor market)
  • The “Information and Support Centre for Immigrants - KEPLYM”
  • “Information Office for Immigrants” (Information relating to housing, job issues, health, welfare etc)
  • Street Social Worker offering social services for socially vulnerable groups including immigrants that are risk of social exclusion, dropping out of school and delinquency
  • Open School program promoting life-long learning programmes to local communities including immigrants
  • Multiannual actions to support the inclusion process of Third Country Nationals 
  • Multicultural training programmes for local Authority personnel and NGO
  • Establishment of Cooperation Network of Immigrant Organizations and NGOs
  • Sponsoring -Supporting cultural ethnocentric activities
  • Establishment of Cooperation Network of Immigrant Organizations and NGOs
  • Hosting conferences on entrepreneurship and business start-ups

Training/Seminar description: 

Nicosia Municipality Multifunctional Foundation within the framework of the project “Information and Training Centre for Employment and Entrepreneurial Activities for vulnerable groups in the Nicosia Municipality – KEEAED” is announcing new dates for the program “Milo Ellinika”, a Greek language course for beginners, which is specifically designed for vulnerable groups within our society.

 

 

The course begins on Monday, 20 March, with lessons scheduled twice a week (Monday and Wednesday) from 18:00 to 20:00 at the premises of KEEAED (Trikoupi 131, Nicosia, Cyprus).

The course is free of charge.

“Milo Ellinika” has been developed to support participants learn basic Greek which is required for communication in a work environment. This will make it easier for them to join the local workforce, find a job, engage in conversation with employers and colleagues, and integrate into the social and cultural life of Cyprus.

Who can participate:

  1. Individuals with disabilities who live in Nicosia
  2. Individuals with Subsidiary Protection Status
  3. Third country nationals with a student’s or worker’s or visitor’s or Cypriot spouse’s residence permit
  4. Former substance abusers
  5. Former criminal offenders
  6. Unemployed individuals
  7. Youth
  8. Recognized refugees
  9. People over 50 years old
  10. Single parents
  11. Individuals with no education
  12. Individuals who receive the minimum guaranteed subsidy
